Another thret

by Inthefastlane45 @ 30/04/2007 - 21.07:33

"MEDIA, Pa. - A series of e-mails threatening violence against a community college led officials to close all five of its campuses Monday for a third day of classes.

Delaware County Community College received about a dozen e-mails Thursday threatening "violence against numerous persons," according to police, who suspect the sender may be a student.

The campuses will remain shut down Tuesday, college president Jerome S. Parker said Monday after a meeting between school representatives and law enforcement officials. College officials hoped to reopen Wednesday.

Officials decided to close all the campuses in part because of the massacre at Virginia Tech, where a gunman killed 32 people and himself in the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U.S. history.

The college serves about 10,000 students in Delaware County, outside Philadelphia"

These things have been happening non-stop after virginia tech.

Test

by Inthefastlane45 @ 30/04/2007 - 15.51:55

Well in about a month(june 2nd) i'll be taking the SATs. Which are pretty much the most imporantant test there is for anyone hoping to get into college here. It takes four hours.

I admit I am a little nervous about it. But, i'm hopint to at least get an average score. I think my grades in school will be good enough to carry me into college if I don't score much above average.

Before, I used to be much better in math instead of english(probably due to the fact that my school never taught me english until middle school-7th grade!) But recently, I've notied that I have become better in english/reading then in math. I haven't really been that good in math since I took geometry in 9th grade(i'm now in 11th).

Oh well, if I do well on this test, it will be the last huge test i'll ever have to take.

Freeway Collapses

by Inthefastlane45 @ 29/04/2007 - 19.44:17

A section of the freeway collaspsed in Oakland(across the bay from San Francisco) california. A gasoline trucker was involved in an accident, and then caught fire. The heat from the fire caused the highway to melt and fall down. It's expected to disrupt hundreds of thousands of people commute everyday, for at least a couple of months.

Last man standing.

by Inthefastlane45 @ 25/04/2007 - 22.14:38

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6592457.stm

The house of rep. passed the bill..dealing with funding, ect..but mainly it will bring the troops in iraq back by early 2008. The senate will probabily also pass it..then it will go to Bush.

Even though this bill is probably what the majority of the actual people want, we all know its getting vetoed. Bush already basically said so. Its good for the democrats to try..but its useless since they didn't get enough votes to overrule the veto.

Earliar this week Bush said "america doesn't want failure" thats not the exact quote but its something similiar, basically saying that america wants to stay in iraq.

That just proves he is living in his own little world in that white house.

Frozen.

by Inthefastlane45 @ 25/04/2007 - 19.20:03

I had yet another dream last night that I died in, which brings my total to four within the last few months.

In this one sombody pushed me off(I don't know who the person was) a ledge and I feel very far into a frozen over water area surrounded by concrete(it was like an industrial setting). I fell on my back, went through the ice and underwater. I tried to move my head up and my arms but I couldn't move like I was paralyzed. I was wondering why it felt like I was breathing though(obviousl because it wasen't really happening, but in my dream i didn't understand).

Then I wondered if this was how its like to die..then I woke up with a weird feeling(like numbness or something simliar)

3 out of 4 of these dreams somebody else that I didn't know killed me.

Gun control laws, again.

by Inthefastlane45 @ 23/04/2007 - 19.03:26

As I blogged about before, after virginia tech there has been a lot of debate over the gun laws here in the US.

Some people think we should get rid of them, some say we should have guns everywhere(everyone has a gun to protect themseleves). If you read the other blog entry then you will know I think we should ban guns completely.

I really don't understand why people would want guns everywhere. If this was the case, then every single person would have a gun for "protection". But is that really a way to live? If you know that everybody around you, all the time, has a gun somewhere on them, wouldn't that drive you a little crazy? You would have to be alert at all times, stressed at all times knowing that any person around you could kill you within seconds.

I don't think that is a way to live.

Tests, life.

by Inthefastlane45 @ 23/04/2007 - 01.59:27

Recently I finally registered to take the SAT's. Probably the most important test I'll ever take. However i'm not stressing too much over them. I don't plan on attending a top college. I think my regular grades will be enough to get me accepted, so i'm just hoping to do at least "average" on these tests.

For college, i'm pretty sure i'll be going to a school in connecticut(north-east of New york city)for my first year. Then afterwords i'm not sure where I want to go, but i'm pretty sure it won't be here in the US, for a number of reasons:

a) university/college is just plain expensive here..average for normal school costs $30,000 a year..for four years..and thats just for an undergrad. degree.
b) The cities are just too dangerous, and will only get worse it seems.
c) I don't like parts of the society.

But what I really have to do is decide what it is exactly that I want to do with my life. There is a number of things I could see myslef doing as a career..but not sure if it's what I really want.

Shooting at NASA

by Inthefastlane45 @ 21/04/2007 - 02.41:34

Two more people got shot and killed today..the killer's hostage and himself..of course..when they want to kill themseleves it must make them feel better to take others with them.

Anyway, it happened at the NASA base in Houston.

And people still think we should have a right to own guns.

"god hates fags" protests at virginia tech funerals.

by Inthefastlane45 @ 20/04/2007 - 17.26:32

Thats right, a church called "Westboro Baptist Church" from kansas are going to protest at a funeral of one of the virginia tech victums tomarrow in gorgia.

I will put the link to their flyer at the end of this entry. In their flyer they say "god hates fags and fag en-ablers" and "god hates america and virginia tech"

it also says :
"Westboro Baptist Church has an explanation:
God is punishing America for her sodomite
sins and for persecuting Westboro Baptist
Church for warning America of her doom."

They can be seen holding signs saying "god hates fags" and "fags die, god laughs"

These have to be the most digusting people i've ever heard of. It's a complete embarrassment that they are in our country.

Bomb threts everywhere

by Inthefastlane45 @ 19/04/2007 - 15.19:20

Well a couple of entries ago I wrote about a school having a bomb thret and closed for the day.

Now there are four local(this is supposed to be happening all over the country) schools that got gun threts. And one entire school district canceled classes today.

Well this really just makes people feel safer.

US gun laws

by Inthefastlane45 @ 18/04/2007 - 19.45:55

With the virginia tech situation many people are not saying/debating that we should make owning a gun illegal, or something similiar.

I believe we should make it illegal. The way it is now anybody can get a gun and go shoot anyone on the streets, or even in schools. Everyone says about hunting, ect. But would you really rather be able to shoot animals, instead of having a reduced crime rate? We already have a high enough crime rate..we should do something.

But we always seem to be slow...abolishing slavery and allowing women to vote..both were passed long after other countries.

Bomb thret

by Inthefastlane45 @ 18/04/2007 - 15.16:56

When I was about six or seven my school had a couple of bomb threts. When the bus picked me up in the morning they took us to the highschool for a couple of hours while they searched the school. It is rumored that a kid and his FATHER made the bomb threts together. I live in a small town so it didn't get any attention from the local news station.

Now, a bigger school in the suburbs has a bomb thret today. And since what happened at virginia tech, they're taking it more seriously. They locked down the school, they will have everyone empty their lockers, and then they;re going to search all the students.

And you just know that some idiot thought it would be funny to make a bomb thret.

Another shooting.

by Inthefastlane45 @ 16/04/2007 - 14.05:01

It's bad enough we have to worry about shootings in high school, now we have to worry about them at college too.

I mean already we had two high school shootings in my own state of pennsylvania within the past year. And these shootings are not happening in the high crime areas like baltimore and washington, they're happening in areas that you would think are safe.

Racism..in america?!

by Inthefastlane45 @ 15/04/2007 - 03.17:58

I'm not sure if you heard of the whole Don Imus "nappy-headed hos" comment, but here in the US you have to be living under a rock NOT to of heard about it.

Everytime there is some type of situation dealing with racism, people are always getting into fights. Some people say "well its just words, who cares?"

But what REALLY surprises me is that some people would be surprised that Imus or anybody would actually say that. And these people who think racism doesn't exsist here are extremely blind. It's not portrayed in the media at all(which is very good), but it happens everywhere, everyday. But I guess people think since its not in the media it must not exsist. Well even if it was it would be hard to tell, all that the media seems to talk about is anna nicole, or britney.

For the most part the racism is white and black..but latly it has shifted towards people from latin america(immigrants). Everyone is freaking out about immigration(i'm talking about illeagl here), and how it should be stopped. But people end up calling all immigrants mexicans. Mexico is jsut one country, yet it seems anyone who is latin is a 'mexican'. Added on to that people now assume everyone who is foriegn from latin american is an illegal immigrant. While there is a lot that are illegal, not everyone is.

Anyway, my general point i'm trying to get across is racism does exsist in the US, and probably more then a lot of people think.

Todays travels: pictures

by Inthefastlane45 @ 14/04/2007 - 02.54:47

Not that exciting..just took a ride to the city today..and took some pictures. Friday traffic very different from any other day, but I don't mind the traffic so much. Anyway, here are the pictures..with captions:

New York-Portugal-Ireland

by Inthefastlane45 @ 13/04/2007 - 14.48:28

New York City takes up 1% of the total carbon emissions from the US, with 2.7% of the population. Making its emissions close to the countries of Portugal or Ireland.

The typical new yorker only contirbutes a third of the typical american..due to the public transit.

The city plans to cut emissions by 30% by 2030.

At least they're planning on doing something. Unlike bush sitting in Washington completely ignoring it.

Don't break down on me now.

by Inthefastlane45 @ 11/04/2007 - 17.57:09

So yesterday I was at a gas station, and I came back to my car. I turn the key to get the radio started. Then I eat some of the food I got. Then I put the car in reverse to back out of the parking space..but its not going that fast. I step on the gas, nothing. Do it again: nothing. I then look at the fuel level: empty!

I wonder, how can it be empty if I just put gas in it? Then I start thinking that I better call my parents because i'm assuming the car broke down. But before I do, i turn the key off then start it back up..it starts up fine, and I then leave the gas station.

While sitting at the traffic light I'm nervous about the car working, and wonder why it did that. Then I remember that I never turned the key the whole way to start with, I just turned it enough to get the radio on. Therefore never started the car.

I then think of what an idiot I am.

My car

by Inthefastlane45 @ 10/04/2007 - 01.29:51

My car.

Proof that not ALL of us americans drive gas-guzzling SUVs. Although as you can see on the left, my dad is guilty. I personally hate SUV's and trucks..my car is easier to drive, espically in tight situations in traffic.

Also, this is the street I live on, all the houses were built in the 50's.

And some good news: We're finally having weather above freezing on tuesday! First time in nearly a week. Very cold for this time of the year.

Cellphone

by Inthefastlane45 @ 08/04/2007 - 18.48:20

I really wish I could get a new cellphone. Mine is about three years old, and of course for cellphones, that is extremely outdated. It's a flip phone, and it doesn't look too bad..but I want one of the newer very thin phones.

But, the provider I have(verizon wireless) won't let me get a new phone at a reduced price until I start a new contract..which won't be for another year.

And i'm not about to spend $250-$350 on just a cell phone, when I can get one for free with a new contract.

Easter Ramblings

by Inthefastlane45 @ 08/04/2007 - 15.18:33

Happy easter

I am at home today though, my mom is too. My dad is at his family's house. I don't go over there much because I don't really like them. Sitting in front of the TV all afternoon, while listening to them yell, and watch them drink all evening is not my idea of a good holiday. In the winter holidays they watch football(american), which gets me distracted, but now it is not football season, so they're probably watching golf or something.

Anyway, my mom was watching a reality show about obese kids, they'll make a reality show out of anything. It was called "honey, i'm killing the kids"

The weather has been extremely cold for this time of the year, we've been getting show daily(although none stays), its crazy for april though.

Pictures

by Inthefastlane45 @ 05/04/2007 - 18.33:15

I uploaded some of my favorite pictures I took in my media on here, I'd like to see what you think of them.

I keep most of my pictures here on my flickr account:

If I had a dollar for everytime I heard this

by Inthefastlane45 @ 05/04/2007 - 01.42:29

Today, in california Bush said that: "he knows the nation is weary of war and wondering if the U.S. can win. Still, he said efforts to pull troops home from Iraq only make the U.S. more vulnerable to attack from an enemy that is pure evil."

Everyone is sick of hearing this line, and even he has to be tired of repeating this statement.

Windy

by Inthefastlane45 @ 04/04/2007 - 16.56:11

It is very windy today, due to a storm system coming in, which will make temperatures go down to near freezing..with a chance of snow(in april!). Where is global warming whenever you need it?

I've been watching a show called "flip that house" on a channel called TLC. Its about somebody who buys a run-down house, fixes it up, and then sells it for profit. Real estate investors for short I guess. Anyway, I really like the show, and realized that its something I would really like to do in the future.

The tortoise and the heir.

by Inthefastlane45 @ 03/04/2007 - 16.39:54

I wish we had the high-speed trains here, like the one they just built in France. If ours went over 300mph, then I could be in Philidelphia in about an hour, and New York in about an hour and a half. Now, it takes 6 hours to Philly, and two more to NYC. I would be quicker by car, but not by much.

Anyway, I thought i'd add a picture to this entry, since I like photography. I took this last summer. Its of the two main bridges in downtown pittsburgh, they carry the two different parkway/freeway.motorways across the two smaller rivers. The downtown area is to the right of the picture.

(Bridges

Eight long years come to an end soon.

by Inthefastlane45 @ 01/04/2007 - 21.44:54

I think its pretty ironic that we in the US have never had a woman, or black president. And not even a good woman candidate, or black candidate(that I can think of). And now, the two biggest promising candidates are one of each, clinton, and obama.

I think obama is more promising though..it doesn't seem hilary is liked as much.

On a kind-of related note: the current presient is actually coming to a graduation ceramony to a local college. A lot of people are in favor, since its so small of a college, and no president would go there.

But some kids signed a type of petition, and sent it to Bush, asking him to decline the invitation and not show up.
