Blogging sites

by Inthefastlane45 @ 31/07/2007 - 02.05:05

So, there are a lot of blogging sites out there...how many have you tried? Do you use all of them?

I tried...xanga, blogger, blurty/live journal, mindsay, and of course blog.co.uk.

My blogger I update once a month or so, it is a picture blog. I am thinking of deleting it since I upload all my pictures to flickr.

I still use mindsay(it's mostly un-heard of) but I am close to deleting it...it's mostly filled with bible-belt types of people.

And of course I use blog.co.uk which is my main blog now, and will probably stay that way for a long time.

-all my others have been deleted..I always delete my blogs once I stop updating.

Boring post..

The university I will be applying to this october(University of Pittsburgh) is having an orientation type thing on saturdays this august. I decided that I'll go to one of them, and today I went down just to make sure I knew how to get there.

I got there fine. Luckily it is on a weekend so I only have to pay $5 for parking..the weekday would be nearly three times that.

I hate driving on the parkway, it is in such bad shape and has so many bumbs that sometimes I wonder if the road is making the noise or something is wrong with my car.

School at the community college starts sep 4th, and high school starts the same day.

-------

Today I had nearly 30 visitors..but my page was viewed nearly 1,000 times...thats a little strange...

Crime

by Inthefastlane45 @ 28/07/2007 - 02.03:56

There have already been over 60 killings here this year. It is supposed to be the worst year in a long time. Most of the killings were from guns, of course.

I can't imagine how bad it must be in Washington, Baltimore, or even Philidelphia.

What am I doing?!

by Inthefastlane45 @ 27/07/2007 - 02.03:52

A while ago(once the website made the changes) I made a blog about how it kept asking me to re-enter my username/password almost every day.

Well, it's still doing it, but much more often. Now I usually have to two-five times a day. Is this happening to anyone else? Am I doing something wrong? I do hit the 'remember me' box.

School and a bitch

by Inthefastlane45 @ 25/07/2007 - 16.24:51

The meeting went find, and was very quick. He had a hard time finding my file, but once he did he asked what classes I wanted to take, I told him..and that was it.

Not much more to say except that I am finally registered for french 1, life scence, and intro to computers. The last two being on-line classes. All beginning on september 4th.

The meeting with the academic advisor is in about 8 hours. I'm a bit nervous..even though I know I have nothing to be nervous about.

I'm actually most nervous about finding the room I'm supposed to go. I looked at the online map of the place, but I was never actually inside the building.

Anyway, good night(or good morning for most of you)..i'll update about the meeting once I get home.

Don't tell me what to do

by Inthefastlane45 @ 21/07/2007 - 19.22:30

So i'll be going to the academic advisor this week. I am a bit nervous about it. The only reason is that I don't want them telling me I should take something else.

I know the classes I want to take, and I know why I am taking each of them. I hate being told to do something different...even if they do know what they are talking about.

But I checked myself and I know that all the credits will transfer to university, so I should be fine...but i'm still nervous.

Anyway, the classes I'll be taking are : Intro to computers, life science, and french 1.

Potter mania strikes again

by Inthefastlane45 @ 21/07/2007 - 02.34:36

Well just a couple weeks after the 5th movie come out(which i've heard very good things about) the 7th book was just released here two and a half hours ago.

On the news they had shown people waiting outside book stores all over to get the book.

I searched for people who got the book to see how it ends. From what I've seen, I'm glad it ends the way it does.(I'm not going to say how it ends incase anyone here doesn't know yet).

Hard to believe that J.K. wrote the ending first and then wrote 7 whole books leading up to it..amazing.

Politcal blog

by Inthefastlane45 @ 21/07/2007 - 01.26:59

Since everyone else here is talking about the 08 election, I guess I will too since it'll be my first time voting.

To put my thoughts into a couple sentences: I'm pretty much disgusted that the candidates are slaves to the overly-religious groups. And that nobody sees the problem with anybody being able to buy a gun.

And since when does being liberal mean that you are pro-terrorism?

Happy friday

by Inthefastlane45 @ 20/07/2007 - 13.12:26

Well I called the college and got an appointment for wed. at 10:30, which means I'll have to get up at 9:30 since it takes 30-40 minutes to get there.

The building is a bit weird. I was never in it, but the main entrance is on level '5'. But from there you can go down to level 4, or up to level 6. I mean, why not just start with level 1 and go up to 2 and 3?

log in every morning?

by Inthefastlane45 @ 19/07/2007 - 17.24:59

Well I called the college and I'll have to call tomarrow to schdule a meeting with an academic advisor..hopfully I can get an appointment tomarrow or monday.

Anyway, for the last couple of days I have had to re-log in on this website..having to re-enter my username and password. I even click the 'remember me' box but it still makes me log in again each day..has this been happening to anyone else?

Today

by Inthefastlane45 @ 19/07/2007 - 02.15:49

Today I have to call up the community college, and will probably have to schdule an appointment with an academic advisor..even though I know the classes I want to take.

Then I have to sit and wait/hope that the place I applied to calls. It's just a part-time job..I need some money!

School...AGAIN.

by Inthefastlane45 @ 18/07/2007 - 13.22:16

Well today I got a letter from the community college saying that I was accepted for the fall of 07. Which is of course good, but it's not a big deal to be accepted, everyone just about is.

Anyway, that would mean that my school sent the form to the school right? They wouldn't just accept me without having any papers on me. But, the principal of my school said that it was sent to my home address?!

Now I have to call the college and see what is going on..if I have to meet with an academic advisor or what. But on the bright side..one part of the nightmare admissions process is over!

Wal-mart

by Inthefastlane45 @ 18/07/2007 - 00.41:32

To put it simply, I hate wal-mart.

Most of the people there only go there to set their disgusting children free to run throughout the store screaming(If you don't like kids..don't have kids!).

Then they are a bit odd too. My mother was walking from her car into the store when a man in a truck stopped beside her and asked "are you catholic?" she said no, and then the man drives off...WTF?

I don't get why so many people shop there. I guess it is cheap, but fact is..it's junk! Most of the stuff you buy there will probably rip/break and then you'll have to buy it again anyway.

School, part duex.

by Inthefastlane45 @ 17/07/2007 - 13.39:00

I sent the form in for dual enrollment(so I can take college courses while still in high school) in the middle of june. And since it's been a month, I e-mailed a person at the school, and they said it was sent back WEEKS AGO!

So either..

A) it got lost in the mail(which I will not be happy about).
or B, the more probable one..
B) they're lying about it.

I did e-mail back and make sure the idiots sent it back to my home address and not the schools.

Classes start september 4th!

A confession

by Inthefastlane45 @ 17/07/2007 - 01.05:28

I'm not sure if other people have this fear..or if it could actually happen, but....

I'm terrified to walk if my foot falls asleep/goes numb. I just picture myself somehow twisting my foot and breaking it and then not feeling it. Or that I will smash it into a wall or something and break the toes. I wonder if this has ever happened to anyone?

Internet costs

by Inthefastlane45 @ 16/07/2007 - 16.22:11

So BBC had a report on internet costs in some of the developed nations in the world..here is a chart of the cheapest monthly costs for each countries:

Sweden $10.79
Denmark $11.11
Switzerland $12.53
US $15.93
France $16.36
Netherlands $16.85
New Zealand $16.86
Italy $17.63
Ireland $18.18
Finland $19.49

I read the report but must be missing something? I live in the US, and I can say that we pay MUCH more then $15.93. Dial up(very slow) usually goes for $20, DSL about $30, and cable(the fastest one, and what I have) is the most expensive...we pay over $40 a month! And then the cable for the TV is another $40-45, and we don't even have a choice on which company to get it from, it just depends on where you live.

US gun laws

by Inthefastlane45 @ 16/07/2007 - 02.09:42

I found this on another blogsite, couldn't even believe it:

---
A. An armed person is a citizen. An unarmed person is a subject.
B. A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
C. Smith & Wesson: The original point and click interface.
D. Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.
E. If guns were outlawed, can we use swords?
F. If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.
G. Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.
H. If you don't know your rights you don't have any.
I. Those who trade liberty fo security have neither.
J. The United States Constitution (c) 1791. All Rights Reserved.
K. What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand?
L. The Second Amendment is in place in case they ignore the others.
M. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.
N. Guns only have two enemies: Rust and Politicians.
O. Know guns, know peace and safety. No guns, no peace nor safety.
P. You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.
Q. 911 - government sponsored Dial a Prayer.
R. Assault is a behavior, not a device.
S. Criminals love gun control, it makes their jobs safer.
T. If Guns cause Crime, then Matches cause Arson.
U. Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to control them.
V. You only have the rights you are willing to fight for.
W. Enforce the "gun control laws" in place, don't make more.
X. When you remove the people's right to bear arms, you create slaves.
Y. The American Revolution would never have happened with Gun Control.
Z. "...a government by the people, for the people..."
little z. Thank God we live in America and not Canada...lol

Got to love school

by Inthefastlane45 @ 12/07/2007 - 17.07:58

So this will be my last year of high school before University/college this year. And I'm only takeing a few classes in high school I'm going to take some classes at a community college to transfer to a university for credit.

Problem is, I have to fill out this 'dual enrollment' form. I fill up my part and then send it to my schools headquarters in Philidelphia(about 5 hour drive from here). I sent it a MONTH ago! I still haven't got it back..all they have to do is sign it and attach a form to it..thats all. It only takes two days in the mail from there to here!

Get rid of the guns already.

by Inthefastlane45 @ 10/07/2007 - 14.38:56

-From an Orlando newspaper

"A Central Florida father faces charges after his 2-year-old daughter apparently shot herself in the leg after the dad left her in a chair with a loaded gun, according to Orange County sheriff's deputies.

Edd Jeffery Taylor, 27, of Orlando, was charged with aggravated child neglect and leaving a firearm within access of a minor after his daughter was injured at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at their Silver Pines apartment.

The girl was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to her right hip and leg area. Doctors told Local 6 News that she would recover.

Taylor said he left the girl unattended while he went to the bathroom and heard a gunshot as he was returning, according to an Orange County sheriff’s report.

Taylor said he then found his daughter bleeding, the report stated. "

We should not have guns in this country if we have people this stupid.

Future

by Inthefastlane45 @ 10/07/2007 - 14.31:55

I often think about what I should actually do for a career in life. I narrowed it down to something in science. Perhaps envrionmental science, or environmental engineering? Not sure. It's more difficult since I don't want to have a job(or live here) in the US after college, and most people don't leave..so there isen't many people in my same situation.

Another thing that bothers me is that I can't go to very good school. To put it plain and simple, my parents can't afford it. Which I'm not upset about, college costs can be insane..not many people can afford the 30,000-40,000 costs..and thats just one year. Multiply that by 4 for a BS/BA degree, or by 6 for a masters. Plus the fact that many people don't even make that much money in one year.

Ugh

by Inthefastlane45 @ 10/07/2007 - 02.28:09

I feel pretty sick right now. My stomach is kind of making noises? I think it's because I'm hungry. Soon as I finish writing this I'm going to get something to eat and then hopefully go to sleep.

I seem to always have a hard time getting to sleep. From whenever I turn the lights off and try to sleep it usually takes me hours(yes, plural)to fall asleep. I would love to be able to fall asleep within an hour.
