Sleeping habits

by Inthefastlane45 @ 31/08/2007 - 01.55:48

I seem to have gotten my sleeping habits under control a bit. I've been falling asleep a little bit earliar and getting up earliar. I do it in the 'small steps' way, setting my alarm for 15 or so minutes earliar every other day.

It would be much easier if it still didn't take me at least two hours to fall asleep!

Lala?

by Inthefastlane45 @ 30/08/2007 - 01.50:00

After stumbling upon this song on youtube today, I wondered...what did she mean by 'lala'?

Resegregation

by Inthefastlane45 @ 29/08/2007 - 15.45:21

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070829/us_nm/usa_schools_segregation_dc

It doesn't make sense how we are a country that was completely formed by immigration by all kinds of people, but now it is normal for people to want to shoot the latinos, and 'ship them back to mexico'. And then all of the racism towards the african-americans.

A sagging court

by Inthefastlane45 @ 29/08/2007 - 13.25:41

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070829/ap_on_re_us/odd_saggy_pants

I can't believe they will actually ban saggy jeans. I don't wear my jeans like that but still. So what if you walk outside of city limits and look into the city..what will they do then?

Can you locate america on a map?

by Inthefastlane45 @ 28/08/2007 - 13.16:38

Poor Miss South Carolina is doing nothing for the sterotypes of people from the south.

But 20% can't find the country on a world map!? I mean how the hell can you miss it, it's not like we're looking for Andorra.

I shouldn't be that surprised though, in middle school when we had a geography quiz on naming all 50 states..some kids could only get 12.

Bonsoir

by Inthefastlane45 @ 25/08/2007 - 21.07:39

So with my french class starting next week I decided to listen to some of the CD and see what I will be doing.

I took spanish for 3 years..and although I only had a good teacher for one of those years, I can tell french is very similiar in spelling..and the numbers are almost identical.

I believe I will have a much easier time pronouncing french than spanish. (maybe cause my ancestors were french? haha)

I see a problem with the 'r'. In spanish I could never do the rolling r sound when you see the 'rr'. And in french it is an r sound using the back of your mouth and I just cannot do it..maybe I will someday. It seems easier to master than the rolling r sound..I HATED it when I seen words that had 'rr'

My biggest problem is that I can be a prefectionest(sp), and feel that I must pronounce it all perfectly like a native french speaker.

Wonder how I will cope with german?

Books

by Inthefastlane45 @ 24/08/2007 - 15.58:02

The books for my community college classes that I ordered online only took two days to get here! I was very impressed.

The french book/workbook/CD all look interesting..it's just what you would expect a french book to be haha

The computer book is huge, 1,000 pages. I wonder how much the teacher will go through?

And the life science book is interesting to me. It talks about the whole theory of evolution which I would like to learn about. It's more of a biology related course..if I like it enough then I might take more classes in biology(maybe I would like to be a biologist?)

It is very hot today, so much that I am just staying inside. We are in a 'code orange' for the air quality. Which is the third out of 5 levels..we usually never go over level two!

update

by Inthefastlane45 @ 23/08/2007 - 02.22:42

Well I went to the campus today and found the room. They marked it wrong in the map they handed out at orientation! Oh well.

I also hit a pretty big pothole today. I was on the road and seen it but it didn't look that large. I couldn't get out of the way either because people were coming in the opposite direction. I hit it and it made a loud noise(like hitting metal)..but once I got to the school everything looked fine. And the car didn't run differently on the way home.

I am just unlucky sometimes

by Inthefastlane45 @ 22/08/2007 - 14.03:55

So I'll be starting the 3 classes at community college next week(sep 4th.)

Two will be on-line, and one will be on the campus.

The one class I have on campus is in room 58(there are letters/numbers before it but this is the only digits you need to know.

So I look on the map of the building, and I am looking at the correct floor. The rooms are in even numbers on one side, and odd on the other...so I look at even and it goes...

64...62...60...53?!?

Now I have to drive down there to see if it was just a mistake.

Sorry for my whining today...I had to complain about it to somebody.

Deer

by Inthefastlane45 @ 21/08/2007 - 16.30:11

Deer were just in my neighbors yard. I never seen deer that close to our house before..when I looked out the window I first thought they were horses lol.

Thats the first time they came this close(in daylight). They have been coming down and eating tomatoes out of my dads garden. Not sure why they just started coming down this year..it's not like the hills/woods are being developed.

Where to go?

by Inthefastlane45 @ 21/08/2007 - 02.22:20

One thing that is a huge selling factor for the university of pittsburgh for me is their study abroad program. Since I don't want to stay in the US, study abroad is a must.

I'm not sure where to go though.

Right now I am pretty sure I would like brussles. I would have a chance to learn some dutch. And by the time it comes around I am hoping my french will be decent.

Anyone been to brussles? Is it nice?

I heard Belgium as a whole is very clean.

Morals

by Inthefastlane45 @ 20/08/2007 - 16.19:13

I see some christians talking about how religous they are, and the morals they have. Which is fine, I don't mind if anybody is religious and they can have all the morals they want.

But then, they go and say that they would like to have anybody who crosses the border shot dead?

Am I missing something?

Up, Up, Up

by Inthefastlane45 @ 19/08/2007 - 00.53:12

Well today(yesterday now) was the orientation at U of PITT. I had a good time(I'll write more about it later). But sadly there is some bad news...more-so for my parents than me.

The university raised their tution(no surprise) from the 06-07 year to the current 07-08 year. The tution the year before was $11,400(roughly). And now it is over $12,000! They raisd it 700$ in just one year. Plus add on another thousand for books and then another thousand for thoese little fees they add on here and there.

And since I will be attending(if I get accepted) in 08-09..who knows if they will raise it again.

I'm sure soon as I graduate the government will decide to finally invest more in education.

CC orientation

by Inthefastlane45 @ 17/08/2007 - 19.56:57

Today was the community college orientation(tomarrow is PITT). It went well, most of the stuff I already knew but we did get a tour of the building which I like. The building is really nice and clean, it has a gym(all new equipment), a basketball court(full size!), and of course all the rooms and things that a community college has.(I wasen't expecting to see a basketball court).

The best part is that parking is FREE. And they have a ton of parking spaces. The campus in the city(the ony I am going to is in the suburbs) is still free but it gets filled up quickly. Then you will have to pay and parking is expensive in pittsburgh.

Tomarrow for the PITT orientation I have to pay for parking, but since it is the weekend I only have to pay 5$ for the entire day.

Approval ratings

by Inthefastlane45 @ 15/08/2007 - 15.48:33

From an article on yahoo:

"The survey shows Bush's approval ratings at 35 percent, and Congress' even lower, 25 percent. Only 27 percent of those polled said the country is headed in the right direction, and 39 percent said they support the Iraq war, with 58 percent opposed."

35 seens quite high for bush. But I'm more surprised about the 39 supporting the war.

Entry 125!

by Inthefastlane45 @ 15/08/2007 - 02.00:56

I'm going for 1,000(but not stopping there).

In more disgusting news..our dog got sprayed by a skunk! and now it smells. luckily the dog isn't inside or else I would have to move..

updates

by Inthefastlane45 @ 14/08/2007 - 18.05:21

well not so much to update on.

The orientation for the community college is on friday. I called last wed. and left a message. Nobody called me back!(I left my name and number too). So I e-mailed them on friday and then they answered on monday(via e-mail). So I guess they just ignore their messages? ugh.

The day after that on saturday is the orientation at the university I will be applying for(PITT). I am already registered for that and am waiting for them to send me a 'ticket' in the mail.

Still no job, but to be honest I haven't really been looking. I've been much more caught up in waiting for calls/emails. I'll have to get around to that soon.

Also, I got a haircut yesterday. I'm not sure if I like it though. The girl asked if I wanted the ends 'razored' for 'texture'. So I said fine. Well, apperantly I don't like 'texture' so much. It just looks a little odd now, it's not really a change, but it is different. maybe I just have to get used to it. Not a big deal though, it's just hair.

What are you?

by Inthefastlane45 @ 11/08/2007 - 01.56:54

I know I posted an entry like this before so sorry if you have read it twice.

So my heritage is always something that I wish I knew more about.

The only one that I am completely 100% sure about is that I am french.

What heritage do all of you have?

I'm pretty mixed:

austrian/hungarian(not sure which), irish, french, and native american(cherokee) are the ones that I know about.

Pictures-storms

by Inthefastlane45 @ 09/08/2007 - 16.41:09

We have a really bad storm move through today. It didn't get too bad where I live but it hit the city bad. Lots of flooding..and even possible tornados.

Internet

by Inthefastlane45 @ 09/08/2007 - 02.19:06

I read an article about speeds of internet, and always wondered how fast my internet actually is.

We have cable internet which is the fastest(and most expensive!) that we can get. I check and it says that the speed is '100Mbps'

But I heard there was a way that you could actually test it? Becuase I don't think my internet is actually this fast.

Anyone know?

Rambling

by Inthefastlane45 @ 08/08/2007 - 14.26:00

Alright I guess I'll make a post without a video..for today.

I got this little cut inbwteen my two fingers and have no idea how I got it. It's an odd place to get a cut and I wish I knew how I got it..

I had to change my date of orientation at the university for next saturday instead of this one. The inbound parkway is closed today and I would rather go when they close the outbound since I am not sure how to get there using the other parkway.

The community college is also having an orientation next week(the same week of course). I have to call and 'RSVP' that either today or tomarrow.

And then high school(last year!) starts on sep. 4th(same week as community college).

Plus, I have to find a part-time job. I hate to get one because it is basically useless. But I do need money...I'll have to get around to putting in a few applications soon.

Hey ohhhh

Funny video

by Inthefastlane45 @ 07/08/2007 - 02.21:39

One of my favorite SNL skits ever. Very funny since they almost didn't make it through the whole thing.

(lindsey lohan before she became a coke head too)

Because thats what jesus wants

by Inthefastlane45 @ 06/08/2007 - 15.46:10

Another clip from 'family guy'..where there is a debate for the town mayor. This one makes fun of the american voters and with the terrorist label.

Was that a bowl movement?

by Inthefastlane45 @ 05/08/2007 - 20.04:16

haha I found this on youtube, I thought the last part was very funny.

I never heard of these two women, but they are very funny. Reminds me of saturday night live.

For those with a sick sense of humor...

by Inthefastlane45 @ 04/08/2007 - 01.54:58

Another blog about school

by Inthefastlane45 @ 03/08/2007 - 00.33:34

So I registered for an orientation type thing for the 11th at the university that I hope to get accepted to(for the 08-09 year).

I expect I'll finish up my application and get the other documents sent in around september. The university is more like first-come, first-serve basis. I will ask two teachers for letters of reccommendation, and then write an admissions essay.

The essay has me worried since I am definitly not a writer type. And I really don't know what to write about. I will either feel like I am bragging about myself, or that I'm sounding desperate.

I guess I'll think of something 'that is important to me'

Perhaps I should write about their ridiculous tution costs?

Lost fortune found

by Inthefastlane45 @ 02/08/2007 - 02.07:18

Usually whenever I buy something, and get back into my car I always drop the change into a little holder that is in my car. It is beside the cup holder, not sure what it is supposed to be.(maybe it is meant for change?)

Anyway, today I decided to clean it out, take most of the change into the house to give to my parents, who will take it to the bank and i'll get money back. I was expecting to get the usual $5 or so...but insead I got...

$25!

That made my day.

Heat vs Cold

by Inthefastlane45 @ 01/08/2007 - 02.11:53

It is supposed to be very hot this week. Most days will be over 90(F).

Just this last winter when it was freezing cold, I was complaining about how much I hate the cold and can't wait until summer.

Now, I hate the heat and cannot wait until winter.

So, which do you like better(assuming you had to choose)..heat or cold?
