Stronger

by Inthefastlane45 @ 30/09/2007 - 14.31:26

I hardly ever like a hop-hop song, but I do like this one. He was on saturday night live last night and made fun of his reactions at reward shows, it was pretty funny.(I couldn't find the clip on youtube amazingly).

But, his glasses do make me think he stole them off of nicole richie.

Rock throwing

by Inthefastlane45 @ 26/09/2007 - 13.06:48

I'm getting a bit nervous about driving into the city anymore.

In the past couple of months there have been around 5 accidents from people throwing big rocks off a bridge onto cars driving underneath. To make it worse, the traffic that is getting hit with rocks are on the parkway and going very fast.

I don't believe anyone has been killed yet, but one woman did have to get a serious operation dealing with her brain.

Don't these people have anything better to do?

Ramblings

by Inthefastlane45 @ 26/09/2007 - 00.34:46

This will probably be a long and boring post, but I like to just type things out as I think of them.

School is going fine. Registration for the spring semester will be starting in mid/late october. I am thinking that I don't want to take as many on-line classes(2/3 of my fall classes are online). I do much better in a classroom. Even though online is more convienent since the campus is 35 minutes away. I will be doing placement tests and taking up english and math courses..which i'm not too exceited about. But hopfully french 2 will be offered.

I really cannot decide what kind of career I want. I think I would like a career in envrionmental science, but then I think of being an economist(how random), or working with languages since I like to learn languages. Luckily I don't have to choose my major until two years into university..and I will be able to talk to a career advisor. But I admit I don't think they will be much help as I want to leave the country to work right after university. Most people only leave the country if their work makes them. Hopfully I will be surprised and get some decent help.

The 08 election is coming up soon. All the states are jumping up their primarys so their votes can be more important. I don't even know when our states is! Most states jumped the whole way up to janurary now, and I hear iowa wanted to move theirs back into december, 07.

As for the candidates..I do not like any republicans. They are all generally too conservative for me. Ron Paul is a bit different, but he supports to make abortion illegal, and I will not vote for somebody who supports that. I am liking hilary at the moment. It's odd because I never hear of anybody liking her, but she is leading all the opinion polls. I don't think obama will win...not that he is a bad candidate..but because there are still too many racist people here.

I'll leave it here as I don't like talking about politics much..usually because I disagree with just about every view that most americans have on 'the issues'.

Darfur

by Inthefastlane45 @ 25/09/2007 - 11.43:18

You can tell how well people know about darfur here

as my history teacher said this:

'How many of you have heard about the darfur situation in Sierra Leone?"

Then, she pulls up a map(note this is online), and after saying darfur was on the west coast of africa, corrects herself saying it near the east coast. And then looks for Sierra Leone around Sudan.

Also, I don't watch our own news(CNN, MSNBC, ect) much at all, but of yet I have never seen one thing about what is happening in Zimbabwe.

Video-futurama

Very funny(at least I think so) part of an episode of futurama making fun of wizard of ozz:

School

by Inthefastlane45 @ 18/09/2007 - 00.38:55

For french this week(since last tuesday) I had to memorize: numbers up to 69, days of the week, places in a university, subjects, and nationalities.

It is a lot and I think I got most of it down. My class tonight is only two hours(usually it is around 3) and then there is no class next week!

My biology(life science) class is going good. Some of the stuff like evolution is interesting to me..maybe I will like a career in biological science?

The computer class is horribly boring..I think I can rule out a career in computers.

My high school classes are finally started a long. German seems pretty interesting. Everyone says how hard german is but it really isn't.(well not yet haha). There are a lot of words that are cognates..it might even seem a bit easier than french.

And I still have to ask my one teacher if she will write a letter of recom. I am thinking that she will say no..I hate to be negative about it but it is what I think.

Once I finally do that and write my admissions essay then I can finally submit my application to university of pittsburgh.

Music video

by Inthefastlane45 @ 17/09/2007 - 01.30:56

Well here is another song that I like a lot. I would post the album-version of the song but I cannot download it here(damnit!). And the only video on youtube with the actual album version is a fan video..and I despise fan videos. Anyway, here is the live version, still very good:

another britney spears blog

by Inthefastlane45 @ 12/09/2007 - 01.36:56

Britney spears has been around me all day. On the internet at least. I click to go on the internet, she is on my internet homepage. Not only in the video section, but in the main headlines too.

I go on to yahoo, she is there too. And even BBC had an article about her performance. She was even on my local news channel!(which never talks about entertainment)

People have seriously been flipping out about it.

Her performance was obviously horrible. But I think the song is pretty good. And like her or not..her new song was posted on youtube not even two weeks ago and has nearly two million views. And even her terrible performance videso are all over the 'most viewed' list.

Seems everyone loves to hate her...but also loves to listen to her music.

School update

by Inthefastlane45 @ 07/09/2007 - 15.10:31

Well my classes in high school haven't started that much, as the website is having problems since they updated it. Very typical...but work in those classes will start monday.

As for community college..

Been studying the french material..not much to study and pretty easy stuff. I know all numbers 1-20 easily..other stuff is a bit harder to remember.

Into. to computers: the teacher isn't really that involved in this class. There has only been one anouncement, and he just posted the assignments..and by looking on the class discussion board a lot of people are not sure when things are due. In the course outline he lists the quizes/exams assignments for each week so I just did was was there for this week. It doesn't matter so much what I get on the quizes as long as I do them my grade will go up one letter grade.

Life science: didn't start this one yet as it started late. I like this professor much more. The first assignment is to read chapter 1, look over this lecture note power-point, and then take the chapter 1 quiz and exam. Pretty easy and straight-forward. I didn't start this yet but that is because he posted it just yesterday or so..and it it not due until the 16th.

80's music

by Inthefastlane45 @ 07/09/2007 - 11.02:52

I like this song even if it was here before I was born. Pretty funny video, and the hair is definitly the 80's:

Second language

by Inthefastlane45 @ 05/09/2007 - 16.18:13

I read once that people from Sweden are most fluent in english(as a second language) than any other people. And after hearing some swedish people speak english, it seems to be true. Although they do seem to sound much more american..to the point where you can hardly tell of an accent.

Which makes me wonder...what about native english speakers...which second language are they/we most fluent in?

French class-first day

by Inthefastlane45 @ 05/09/2007 - 01.55:05

Overall: pretty good.

I was surprised that a lot of people there already had some education in french before..I just assumed everyone was completly new lol. Oh well, my 3 years(1 good year) of spanish proved to be helpful anyway as it helps a lot becuase french is very similiar so far.

We learned basically 3 things: greetings, numbers 1-20, and classroom objects.

The teacher was very nice. She studied in Paris(university of paris I believe), and she teaches german in a high school too. The only problem is that she NODS constantly! It really gets on my nerves, as she will nod like 5 or 6 times in a row..half the time saying something that does not require nodding.

Summer over for me, school begins today!

by Inthefastlane45 @ 04/09/2007 - 00.43:58

So here are the classes I am taking:

Community college Fall semester(from september-december):

Elementary French 1
Life Science
Intro. to Computers

High school(last year!) full year september-june

English 12
Political Science
German 1
Earth Science

My high school is online, so while I listen to the teachers talk, I don't have to sit in a class room all day. And the only class I am taking at the college is french.

And for high school, I have to do a graduation project...I'm thinking of doing it on the EU.

A lesson to learn

Do not make fun of other people, as their mother might try to kill you:
