This will probably be a long and boring post, but I like to just type things out as I think of them.

School is going fine. Registration for the spring semester will be starting in mid/late october. I am thinking that I don't want to take as many on-line classes(2/3 of my fall classes are online). I do much better in a classroom. Even though online is more convienent since the campus is 35 minutes away. I will be doing placement tests and taking up english and math courses..which i'm not too exceited about. But hopfully french 2 will be offered.

I really cannot decide what kind of career I want. I think I would like a career in envrionmental science, but then I think of being an economist(how random), or working with languages since I like to learn languages. Luckily I don't have to choose my major until two years into university..and I will be able to talk to a career advisor. But I admit I don't think they will be much help as I want to leave the country to work right after university. Most people only leave the country if their work makes them. Hopfully I will be surprised and get some decent help.

The 08 election is coming up soon. All the states are jumping up their primarys so their votes can be more important. I don't even know when our states is! Most states jumped the whole way up to janurary now, and I hear iowa wanted to move theirs back into december, 07.

As for the candidates..I do not like any republicans. They are all generally too conservative for me. Ron Paul is a bit different, but he supports to make abortion illegal, and I will not vote for somebody who supports that. I am liking hilary at the moment. It's odd because I never hear of anybody liking her, but she is leading all the opinion polls. I don't think obama will win...not that he is a bad candidate..but because there are still too many racist people here.

I'll leave it here as I don't like talking about politics much..usually because I disagree with just about every view that most americans have on 'the issues'.

I am glad you support Hillary - at least you are a Republican.

Do you really feel that strong about abortion? I would appreciate your views.
Cheers Jonni :)

Well I don't think it should ever be illegal to have an abortion..everyone should have a choice and not be forced to have a child.

I agree on the abortion issue, even though I AM republican....

I am also suffering with picking a carreer. I want to transfer to USC (suddenly) not UCLA, for their business school. I was also thinking Econ if i don't want business (they're different) but this past week I've been really struggling, b/c I"m ok on all the moral aspects--in understanding--but it's such rubbish in the book, my teacher doesn't teach well, and gives us busy work....
I was reading the text book and looking at those long gibberish-to-me words and wonder if I want to do this for the rest of my life.
You know what you could do?
Do you have any correspondance with people/teens in Germany or wherever you want to live?
Ask them what careers are in demand there. (like I was told that UK needs chemists and the obvious doctors and teachers, but I don't like the two latter ones) I love chem, but I don't want a career in it!
I know you can find stuff on the internet, but maybe it's more accurate from people who are actually employed there..
Oh and the counseling classes and counselors don't know my chin from their elbows. They all BS about how none of them are working in what they're majoring in. It's a new idiotic mentality in Los Angeles, that you shoud just pick a major and after you're done with it, try to find something you like. My counselor when we were working on my schedule, told me some crap about how she was a psychology major, the man in the next booth was a economics major, her best friend accross the hall was into nursing and *silly secretary laugh* whadda ya know? "we all ended up here, and happily, too".
So if you ever figure out how to get out of the boat that we're in, tell me please...

I know what you mean, I have done the same thing when reading my biology(life science) book..."do I REALLY want to do this for decades?" I like science but don't see myself actually working with animals or working in a science lab.

I do not know anyone from over there, but perhaps when I do study abroad I can get some good information. I should be able to do that during my sophmore year in college before I have to choose my major.

I looked a a bit online for that type of thing dealing with careers in demand..mainly it is computer and engineering careers that I've heard about in Germany. I wanted to be an engineer but then I realized that I do not want to be doing difficult math and physics everyday. And a computer career I would find very boring.

Yeah I don't think the career counsler will be much help at all(they probably deal with people who want to stay in pittsburgh)..but I can always hope lol

Yeah that really gets me mad when people talk about "you never stay in the career you chose to in college". It's like..how is this making me want to even stay in college? I would hate to start from square one and start a whole new career. Besides, who will hire you for a good job if you don't even have a degree in that field?
