Random things about me...

by Inthefastlane45 @ 30/12/2007 - 02.26:43

Well I don't like the fact that my latest post is a rant, so I felt I should write random/weird things about myself that most people(In 'real life') don't know...

-I HATE walking up/down stairs..I feel the need to run, and get very angry when someone is blocking my way and is only walking.

-I get extremely annoyed at people who walk slow in general.

-(I blogged about this once) I check or think about a bee being under the handle to open the door to my car everytime I open it. I do this becuase when I was 10 a bee was there and I got stung.

-When I was around the ages of 8-11 I would hear the people talk about climate change/global warming on the weather channel and would be terrified that the world is coming to an end and I would die.

-I didn't know what teachers meant when they said 'keep it original' until I was at least 15.

-I can be a prefectionist often.

-(blogged about this too) I am afriad to walk when my leg is asleep because I think it will bend the wrong way and break.

-(Blogged about this too) I am always worried that I will set off the metal detectors in stores and the employees will think I am stealing something.

-I don't mind having the same schdule for days of the week, or doing the same thing everyday at a certain time. But every few months I feel the need to change my routine radically.
(this also makes me think that I might never stay in the same career field).

I must look like a complete idiot

by Inthefastlane45 @ 30/12/2007 - 00.40:25

I do not know what it is, but my family(fathers side) thinks that I am a complete idiot when it comes to university.

Luckily, I didn't go over today when they had a dinner but my parents did and they were asking my mother about me going into university.

First, they ask if the classes I am taking now transfer to university. Why on earth would I take classes(that cost a lot of money) if they did not transfer for credit?!

Then, they said how university reviews applications and sends our their decision out to everyone at once. Not true with my university..it has rolling admission so they review and reject/accept people as they get applicatiosn throughout the year.

Then, they say that if I stay at the university, it will be more expensive. Well...no shit. Room and board is not free..any idiot knows that.

They seemed surprised that I was even going to college. And I am pretty sure the reason they think I am stupid is because of the type of school(on-line) that I do. Just shows that they do not know me at all.

I was also annoyed how they act like they are college experts. They went to a completely differnet college, and not all are the same.

.....end of rant.

These past few days

by Inthefastlane45 @ 27/12/2007 - 21.38:31

Christmas eve went by quickly, I went over to my one grandmothers and just sat around. I usually don't talk to many people there. I did get some money though.

On christmas day I opened my gifts, I mainly got clothes and gift cards(old navy and iTunes). Then went over to my other grandmothers for a little. I really did not like going over there. They asked about where I am going for university, and then told me about how I need to do all of this finical aid stuff. They acted like I did not know anything, like I just mailed in my application for the fun of it. They seemed surprised I was going to go to PITT, and compared it to the smaller local colleges as if they were on the same level. I guess it doesn't matter that these local college don't have tens of thousands of applicants?

On the 26th I went with my dad to the mall to return a sweater to get it in a larger size. Traffic was very heavy..even though we werent in the big city, but in a smaller city, I was pretty surprised by all the people. Going in the crowded mall reminds me of how annoyed I can get. I like to walk fast, and can't stand waiting for other people. Therefore I was not having a good time waiting in the return/exchange line and then making my way through the crowds. But I got the sweater in the correct size quickly, so it wasen't so bad. Then we went to red lobster(the only decent sea food outside of the city). I got lobster/crab/two kinds of shrimp/mashed patatoes all in a platter..along with biscuits and a salad. I liked all of it, very good.

Then today(the 27th-my birthday) I went out to spend my birthday/christmas money. Traffic was heavy again, but I don't mind so much. I got through the day without getting a horn blown at me!..no that doesn't happen THAT often. Anyway, I went to old navy first..got some great deals(most of the clothes were 50% off)..and then over to quiznos..which makes the best hoagies/subs...on the planet...in my opinion. And then went to borders book store and got a 'learn the french langauge' package to practice listening to French, since that is where I have trouble in that language. I also got a borders rewards card...I don't go there often but I figured I'd get one anyway..despite the fact I will never use it haha

After borders I went down to target. I like target very much, in my mind it is many levels above walmart and/or k-mart. I hate wal-mart, everytime I go there there are children screaming and people who seem unaware that they are in public. And then there are those parents who don't watch/care about their children, those parents digust me. Anyway, I got some more clothes(50% off!) at target too.

Good couple of days, I got a lot of things and have a lot of money to save for gas. I also got the harry potter book..which I probably won't read until the summer. I feel that I must read through the first six before starting the last one.

I'm pretty happy being 18 now. I can smoke, but I would never smoke/kill myself. I will be able to vote now, and plan on registering sometime in the next few months..I also plan to get a credit card..probably visa..maybe american express?

Soon I will have to go buy my books for the spring semester..and get a hair-cut. I swear my hair grows like wild grass(does wild grass grow fast?)..I just got a hair-cut two months ago!

Merry Christmas-eve

by Inthefastlane45 @ 24/12/2007 - 02.01:12

It just turned to the 24th about an hour ago.

Today, we open one present..which is our own little 'tradition' even though many other people do it..or even open everything on christmas eve.

Anyway, in the evening we will be going to my one grandmothers to give/get gifts..and probably eat something. I'm really not looking forward to it that much though..as some of the family I don't like to be around. But also, the food will probably be bad. At least I know there will be cake..store bought, but I like that kind.

Easily amused...

by Inthefastlane45 @ 19/12/2007 - 17.02:54

Yesterday I took my books back to the college to sell them back since the semester is over..and got $102!. Pretty good, and enough to cover my math book for the new spring semester(starting mid-janurary). It went very smoothly..I found parking easily..and didin't have to paralell park.

But I was amazed(yes, I actually was amazed) witht he parking meters. Usually they have the ones that has an arrow and as you put a coin in, you twist a handle and let go, then the arrow goes to 1/2(30 minutes).

But these ones were digital, and it said the time in minutes, just like a digital clock. I got one with 47 minutes left! But, I was not thinking and put an extra quarter in to make it go over an hour. Not sure why, as I was done in 10 minutes(most of that was walking up stairs), so at least I saved some money for the next person to use that spot.

yep, a blog about parking meters.

Oh..and my birthday(18th) is on the 27th...8 days away

long ramblings

by Inthefastlane45 @ 10/12/2007 - 19.11:19

I finally went to take my placemnt tests last tuesday. They were schduled at 10 and I left at 9:10, to get there a little early(i'm very conscience about being on time). Usually it only takes me 35 minutes to get the college, but this day due to the bad roads, it took me the entire 50 minutes. Then, just because I am that lucky, there were no parking spaces..I had to go half-way around the building to find one..and there were only around 5-10 left(there are hundreds of parking spaces). So I finally go in and am a little late, but luckily they didn't start the test for another 5-10 minutes.

The test was alright, I did reading, writing(editing an already written essay) and math. After I finished, I printed out my report and went and waited to meet with an advisor to discuss my options I guess. I did well in reading(95) and english(87), which meant I can take english-101(which is what I wanted) and did not need to take any 'developmental' classes.

In math, I did well on the pre-algebra part, but didn't do well on the regular algebra. With my results I could only go into algebra fundementals(090), which does not transfer to university, I would need the next level up; 108. So the advisor sys to come tomarrow to take a different written math test.

The roads were horrible the next day so I reschduled for thursday. It again took me about 40-50 minutes to get there, but not as bad as tuesday. I got there and after waiting 15 minutes took a written test. I ended up doing much better, and was able to take math the whole way up to pre-calc and/or trig. After I took the test I met with the same advisor, and mentioned about I was considering doing a dual degree at PITT where I could get a degree from the school of arts and sciences(ex: economics) plus a degree from their college of business(ex: finance). I was surprised in that he actually called down to PITT and after speaking to 5 people finally got an answer.

108 would transfer to both, but in busniess I would take analytical methods and then business calc. In the regular BS/BA degree, I would take 108 then pre-calc and trig, and then calc 1. Since 108 would work with either path, I decided to register for that. I am not certain I will do the dual degree with business, since it is 150 credits and 5 years= more expensive.

So my schdule for the spring 08 semester(beginning in janurary) is:

English Composition 1: on-line course
French 2: tuesdays, 6:30-9:40(usually ends at 9:10)
Intermediate Algebra(108): 2:30-3:55 Tuesdays/thursdays

I finished my work for both my online courses for this fall semester, and my final in french is tomarrow. I think I may have a B/3.0 in life science, but into. to computers and french should both be A's.

I also got my 1st quarter grades for high school:

politcal science: 101%
German 1: 100%
English 12: 98%
Earth Science: 93%

I am a little fustrated over earth science..I would of had a perfect 4.0, but I was one percent off(4.0 starts at 94) so I end up with 3.9 overall, still good.

Still waiting to hear from PITT. I am expecting they will put me in johnstown and then I will have to transfer to the main campus in oakland..but if I get lucky then they will put me in oakland to begin with.

The snow has melted..It has been raining for days. I like the snow gone, but this rain makes the day get darker even faster and is depressing.

Winter is here

by Inthefastlane45 @ 04/12/2007 - 00.38:48

For the record: I hate driving in two things the most...snow and wind(wind because my car is small/light and gets blown around easily).

And of course we will be getting both tomarrow when I have to drive down to the community college(and back) twice.

We already got 3 inches of snow. I took a picture of it snowing this afternoon but the camera-computer upload will not work..I have no idea why either.
