Scallops, Spring, and Music

by Inthefastlane45 @ 31/03/2008 - 23.58:33

I had scallops(sp?) for dinner today. They were very good, the taste reminds me of crab meat. I had scallops for the first time a few months ago at a sea-food resturant and really liked them. But they were huge and the ones I got are pretty small(like the size of a finger-nail each). But apparently the bag of the larger ones was $28, and the small ones $6-8. I wish sea food wasn't so expensive here(I wonder if it is even cheaper on the coast?)since it is very good and pretty good for you.

Spring is really starting to appear, it has been pretty warm the past week and tomarow is supposed to be the warmest day of the year so far. I sat out on our back porch for a while tonight. It is nice to sit there, there is some decent scenery(if you can look past the corn-field). It is one part of living in the country that I like. Too bad our neighbors are so close that they can hear(and listen in on!) everything you say.

I think I will start posting more music on here. Today is a pretty sad song. But the woman singing has a great voice..real talent is good to listen to I think. Anyway, the song is "I Would Stay" by Krezip from The Netherlands:

Loud fans and French music.

by Inthefastlane45 @ 28/03/2008 - 15.07:38

Getting to sleep is hard enough for me to do, but what makes it worse is that I hate complete silence at night. So I usually have a small desk-fan on at nights to make some noise and keep the room cool.

Last month the fan died, and I have gotten semi-used to the silence, but yesterday I finally got a new fan. Problem is that the thing is as loud as a motor on a small boat. I guess I will just use it when it gets too hot and deal with the silence.

MTV(how is it musical television when you play 30 seconds of music?)has an 'artist of the week' and this week is Yelle from france. I think it is the first time I ever seen french music on television here. The only different language music we have is spanish, and that is usually from popular cross-over english artists. Anyway Yelle is pretty unique and goes with the 'tecktonik(sp?) style from Paris..here is one of her videos for 'Je Veux Te Voir':

Spring

by Inthefastlane45 @ 26/03/2008 - 00.49:03

Spring is here, which was obvious by the fact that there was still some light in the sky when I left class at 7:40 tonight. I am happy about that, can't stand the winter when it is dark at 5.

Also, spring means horrible weather(in the beginning at least). Today we got rain, I missed most of it but it was extremely windy..and my poor little car gets blown all over the place.

Then the wind blows leaves...where did they come from anyway? it is almost spring again and fall leaves are still around!. Anyway, the leaves are large and brown and I kept thinking they were birds haha, and actually jumped a couple times because I thought I was going to hit a bird.

We had a test in my economics class tonight. I am pretty confident in this one(I got an 82% on the first one). All the professors always say that the first test is the easier and it goes downhill from there..but I always do the worst on the first test and get better afterwords.

And earliar in the day(I am not going in order here at all) a person was talking in the back of the room about the upcoming election and the candidates. Going through the candidates he got to Obama and he says he 'dosn't know' about obama because of 'all that muslim shit'. This was such a stupid thing to say that I thought. First of all, he is not even muslim(so what if he was?) and the picture that caused all of this was of him in Kenya in local traditional clothes. I can never understand how some people so easily fall into whatever they hear and make judgements..think for yourself!

Back to school...

by Inthefastlane45 @ 23/03/2008 - 18.25:57

Yes, spring break is over. A full 9 days or so(including weekends) went by in about 4 hours.

Enough complaining, I got some things done during the break. I studied for an economics test on tuesday, and studed some of my french and german.

I think at first I said german was easier..well it is easier to pronounce, but the grammar the germans have is unreal. Not helped by the fact that there are three genders instead of two.

I've also been looking at study aborad programs. I might go next summer(09) or else the summer of 2010. I am pretty set on brussels. They have a good summer program(6 weeks) that is cheaper than a full semester. I hope that my french class won't be canceled again..I would hate to go there and without good knowledge of at least one of the languages. Going there only speaking english seems rude to me.

The other day the blew up an hold hospital in the 'uptown' section of the city(pittsburgh) to make way for a new hockey stadium. Since large buildings falling down are always nice to see, I looked for a video of it on youtube and found tons. I choose a local one, obviously as the news wouldn't air 'that shits tight' haha

Spring break!

by Inthefastlane45 @ 17/03/2008 - 00.00:55

I have the entire week off this week..which I plan on doing nothing. I won't be going to Mexico or anything...firstly because I don't have the money haha, and secondly becuase that is very over-done and boring to me.

I did register for the summer semster on thursday morning. I will be taking Pre-calc on Monday-Thursday at roughly 10:30-1pm, and into. to psychology on the internet. Those two will start in late may until end of june. Then I will have French 2 starting end of june until beginning of august..and then I start at Pitt-johnstown campus 3 weeks later! And meanwhile, I finish up highschool during the first summer semester.

I actually(although ashamed to admit it) watched a show on MTV...some kind of hip-hop dance show..very talented people. I really liked the episode when they paid tribute to the Thriller album..each group danced to a certain song. I like a lot of the songs from that album and the Bad album..my favorite is probably smooth criminal though:

And here is one of my favorite performances from the show, the group did thriller..they show a bucnh of things before the actual performance:

Today weather.com says it is already almost 60 degrees...definitly t-shirt weather. Hopefully all the snow is gone for good this season.

In an hour or so I'm leaving to register for the summer semester before my math class. I am hoping to register for pre-calculus, into. to psychology, and French 2(if they don't cancel it again!)

This time I looked online for ratings of professors..even though those ratings usually are worse than the professor actually is, I still consider them. I never understand why somebody who seems to hate teaching others gets into the education field.

Sea food..likes and dislikes

by Inthefastlane45 @ 09/03/2008 - 23.34:12

I usually only get to eat seafood twice a year because it is very expensive where I live(excluding most fish).

I always like crab, lobster, and shrimp. Today I tried a couple new things, stuffed mushrooms filled with crab/lobster meat covered in a kind of cheese, scallops wraped in bacon, and fried clam strips. I actually liked them all.

The ironic thing is, I like all this sea food, yet I hate fish.

I heard sea food is supposed to be very good for you..although I doubt the scallops wrapped in bacon and the fried clam strips were not so healthy.

Angry

by Inthefastlane45 @ 07/03/2008 - 15.29:02

I'm pretty mad because I just found out that I will not be able to vote in the Pennsylvania Primary in april.

I registered as an independent because although I would never vote for a republican(for not at least) I don't really agree with the democrats on everything.

Today though I found out that we have a 'closed'primary where only reigstered democrats can vote for democrats, republicans for republicans and independents can only vote for independent candidates.

Therefore I cannot vote for anybody that I know of. I'm not changing my party because I would never want to tie myself down to them.

I think this system is isane..registering with a party is not needed..just let everyone vote for whoever they want, whoever gets the most votes wins the nomination..these delegates are useless complications.

Election news

by Inthefastlane45 @ 05/03/2008 - 00.46:22

It seems hilary will win Ohio and (maybe) Texas. Although I want obama to win the nomination, I am a little happy that Hilary won because now both candidates are going to be focusing on my state, Pennsylvania.

The primary isn't until late april, so hopfully they will have a few speeches that I can go and see in Pittsburgh.

Bad news for Obama is that Hilary won Ohio, which means she will probably win here. It is a general rule that the cities will vote for Obama, and the country-side for Clinton.

--Although I'll be against that rule, as I live in the country but will be voting for Obama.
